Collaborations

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller

The Annadata Charitable Trust is proud to announce its collaboration with each of these three initiatives, namely, the Udaan foundation, The Sambhali trust and the Tankla hand weaving community. We believe that together, we can all make it better and it is in unity that we stand. Given the proximity of our various locations out of which we operate, these collaborations promise immense growth and solidarity in the near future.

Annadata X Rug Weavers of Tankla

Tankla Is a tiny hamlet near our headquarters in Khimsar and is known for an artisanal community of traditional rug weavers.

Once a community of over 250 families, Tankla’s traditional rug weaving community has been reduced to merely 10 odd families. The largest contributor to their diminished strength is the industrial mechanisation of most national and regional handlooms. Moreover, the automation of handloom manufacture has also caused a major cut in income generation for handweavers. Any hand-made product cannot be equated with its mechanised counterpart, and yet, the very ethos of handicrafts (crafts made by hand) has suffered various threats of decline and even extinction.

In this particular situation, The Annadata Charitable Trust resolves to revive the dying art of rug weaving at Tankla by providing means of revival.

Annadata X Sambhali Trust

Founded in 2007 by Govind Singh ji the Sambhali Trust undertakes a community-centric approach to help provide distressed women a sense of belonging. Through education and vocational training, members of the Sambhali Trust are trained to create handicrafts and artifacts. Over time, Govind’s venture has reached out to 10,000 women and girls around Jodhpur through 9 empowerment centres and 2 boarding homes that provide basic education and sewing training to its inhabitants.

The Annadata Charitable Trust is proud to collaborate with Sambhali Trust and launch a boutique at the prestigious ITC Khimsar Fort, which will be showcasing handicrafts generated out of Sambhali and shall transfer all proceedings made from their sales to the respective communities.

By lending their brilliant initiatives a helping hand, we at Annadata are committed to impacting more lives, one step at a time.

Annadata X Udaan Foundation

Based out of the city of Jodhpur, The Udaan Foundation was founded by Varun Dhanadia in 2012. The Foundation is an affiliation of the Udaan Seva Sanstha that aims to engage the youth in social welfare activities with an inclusive approach towards development. Its wide-ranging objectives cover environmental, educational, literacy, vocational training, health, welfare and employment concerns that impact every section of the society, with a particular emphasis on the marginalised and vulnerable.

The Annadata Charitable Trust is fortunate to lend a helping hand to Udaan by jointly working on several upcoming collaborative projects in the Jodhpur region.
